1. Ski Mountain Coaster at Ober Gatlinburg
Ober Gatlinburg may be most famous for being Tennessee’s only ski resort, but it is also home to a fantastic year-round thrill ride. The Ski Mountain Coaster is a unique roller coaster that is built right into the side of a mountain. Guests will enjoy a scenic 1,000 ft. ride to the top before zooming down 2,750 ft. of twists, turns, and corkscrews. The coaster’s carts come with a brake lever, so you can control how fast or slow you want your adventure to be. Up to two riders can fit in each cart, making the Ski Mountain Coaster perfect for a couple or a parent with a child.
2. 7D Dark Ride Adventure
The 7D Dark Ride Adventure is another one of the best thrill rides in Gatlinburg. Utilizing state of the art technology, the Dark Ride Adventure is like a mix between a roller coaster and a video game. Guests sit in a special theater that is equipped with motion seats, wind machines, and 3D visual effects. When the movie starts, you’ll use your blaster gun to shoot zombies and other enemies as you move around in your seat. This awesome attraction is ideal for a rainy day since it is entirely indoors
3. Ziplining and Mountain Biking at CLIMB Works
CLIMB Works offers two exhilarating adventures for guests to enjoy. When you sign up for a canopy tour with CLIMB Works, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Great Smoky Mountains as you whizz through the air on nine different ziplines. Your feet won’t touch the ground for 2 and ½ hours!
CLIMB Works is also home to a wonderful mountain biking course. Guests can bike on both scenic nature trails and a wooden roller coaster-like structure called “The Curliest”. If you don’t have your own mountain bike, you can rent one of CLIMB Works’ top of the line bicycles.
