A Pet Friendly Hike in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

No vacation in Gatlinburg is complete without a visit to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Dogs are welcome in select areas of the park including picnic areas and roads, as long as they are kept on a leash at all time. There is also a special path for pet owners who want to go on a hike with their dog: the Gatlinburg Trail.

The Gatlinburg Trail is a one-way, 1.9 mile walking path from the Sugarlands Visitor Center that ends at the outskirts of Gatlinburg. You and your dog will enjoy scenic views of the Little Pigeon River and historic homesites. Bicycles are also permitted on this path.
