If you are looking for the perfect way to celebrate the holidays in the Smoky Mountains, hop aboard the Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights! This relaxing journey takes you through Gatlinburg's magical holiday light displays of traditional winter scenes and animals native to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park! Here are the top 3 reasons why you should celebrate the holidays on the Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights:
1. Puts You into the Holiday Spirit

The Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights is sure to put everyone in your family into the holiday spirit as you travel through the dazzling lighting displays along the downtown Parkway, adjacent River Road and the triangle junction of the two roads. The custom designed and fabricated lights include dancing fountains, fanciful snowmen, a group of international children and a shiny rocking horse. The City of Gatlinburg has converted the entire winter lights program into quarter watt LED bulbs from the former 5-watt incandescent bulbs, making the light displays crisper than ever!
2. Great Alternative to a Self-Driving Tour
While you can drive your own vehicle through the Gatlinburg Winter Magic displays, you still have to concentrate on traffic. This makes it tough for the driver to fully enjoy all of the spectacular lights that Gatlinburg has to offer! As a convenient alternative, purchase tickets for a ride on the Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights! This gives everyone in the family an opportunity to relax as you cruise along the Parkway on a comfortable trolley.3. Convenient Operation Schedule
The Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights has a convenient schedule that should easily fit into your holiday vacation plans! The trolley route departs the Mass Transit Center at traffic light #5 for a 45-minute ride through the light displays. There are departures three times nightly from November through December, with the exceptions of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The route will also operate on each Saturday night in January for those who want to continue the holiday spirit into the new year! The departure times are at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on each night of operation.
