1. Visit the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community

Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community is an 8-mile loop in Gatlinburg where artists and craftsmen sell their jewelry, pottery, paintings, and much more. You can choose which shops you'd like to visit, and it won't cost you anything you browse through the shops or drive through this area. If you get hungry while you're out in this area, you have a variety of restaurants to eat at, from the Crystelle Creek Restaurant to Local Attraction Gastropub.


2. Hike in the National Park

Since the Great Smoky Mountains National Park doesn't charge an entrance fee, you can do anything in the park for free! One of the most popular free things to do in Gatlinburg is hike. Take the Gatlinburg Trail for a moderate roundtrip of 3.8 miles where you'll walk next to a river for most of the trail. Twin Creeks Trail is another great beginner trail in Gatlinburg that is 4.5 miles roundtrip.


3. Taste Moonshine

The Smokies were known for being a place where moonshine was abundant during Prohibition. Now you can taste it at a few places in Gatlinburg for a small fee of $5. At Sugerlands Distillery Company, your $5 tasting fee goes towards a purchase in their store. You'll taste a few of their flavors, from maple bacon to blueberry muffin. 4. Play Putt Putt

Everyone in your group will love playing a round or two of mini golf! The features are entertaining and you can compete with each other to see who will win. One of the cheapest places to play is at Cooter's Place in Gatlinburg. You just pay $5 for one game, and if you want to play more, they have other deals.


5. Check Out the Salt and Pepper Museum

Looking for something unique to do that won't break the bank? The Salt and Pepper Museum is full of over 20,000 salt and pepper shakers in every shape, color, and material you can think of. You just have to pay an entrance fee of $3 that goes towards a purchase in the gift shop.
