Vacationing in the Smokies can be a fun and educational experience for anyone visiting the attractions and museums dotted throughout the area. A favorite for families is the Titanic Pigeon Forge museum because of the educational tours and larger-than-life exhibits. February is filled with exciting and informative events at the museum, and we have all the details.

New Exhibit at the Titanic Museum

Titanic

The Unsinkable Molly Brown exhibit is now open at the Titanic Pigeon Forge museum. The exhibit holds never-before-seen items including cherished possessions and private papers. Adding to these amazing events, Brown's great-granddaughter Helen Benziger will be making an additional two-day appearance to tell stories of her legendary ancestor. As a survivor of the RMS Titanic, Margaret Brown is known best for her heroic efforts to help others evacuate the ship. She raised more than $20,000 for a relief fund to help those who had lost everything.Another hero of the Titanic was A.H. Rostron, captain of the RMS Carpathia. After hearing the Titanic's distress call, Captain Rostron guided the Carpathia through the ice for more than four hours to the 20 lifeboats waiting to be rescued.Six weeks after the rescue, she and the other surviving passengers presented Captain Rostron with a Loving Cup trophy in honor of his service. For the first time since, Captain Rostron's descendants and Margaret Brown's descendants will have a Loving Cupreunion where guests can meet them and see the actual cup in person.
